Board approves closing five elementary schools and one middle school

What happened
On October 7, 2026 the board approved closing North Mor, Rocky Mountain, Centennial, Cherry Drive and The Studio School elementary schools and Shadow Ridge Middle School after the 2026-27 school year. About 1,586 students and 341 staff are affected. Hulstrom K-8 moves to the Shadow Ridge campus, and a new arts K-8 magnet opens at the Hulstrom site if 420 students sign up by December 15. The plan is expected to save about $5 million a year after the first year.
