What happened

On Sept. 24, 2026, an engineering firm told the board its building condition survey found about $224.8 million of work across district buildings. About $50 million of that overlaps the roughly $100 million capital project voters approved in May. About $6.3 million is work put off from the last project.

Why it matters to families

Many needs are still not paid for. The board talked about a possible next capital project phase. The district says it plans to keep building work from raising taxes, but no second project has been approved.

The evidence

In the Sept. 24, 2026 meeting recording (auto-captions), the firm said the survey identified about $224 million of needs, about $50 million overlapping the current project, and gave one school (Giffen Memorial) as an example: $17.2 million in the project and $23.4 million of needs. A second phase was mentioned as a possibility.
