Approved plan targets worsening chronic absenteeism

What happened

Alta Loma's approved FY27 plan reports 20.9% chronic absenteeism in 2025, up 1.7 percentage points from the prior year, and sets out attendance interventions alongside $589,722 in targeted-student funding.

Why it matters to families

Attendance affects students' daily access to instruction. The plan identifies especially high chronic-absence rates for Black students, students with disabilities, and low-income students, and commits school staff to monitor and contact families as part of its response.

It budgets $93,853 for Joy and Wellness and $23,039 for Engagement and Collaboration, and describes a three-tier attendance approach, school supervision aides, family support, and regular attendance monitoring.
