What happened

The Board approved a revised FY 2026–27 budget memo 5–2, directing $3.7 million to tutoring, credit recovery, school-based health centers, and school personnel. It also commits $17.61 million in remaining HB 263 funds to preserve about 123 teacher positions for FY28, down from 144 in the earlier version.

Why it matters to families

The vote finalizes how substantial one-time state funds will support current-year student services and next-year staffing amid the district’s budget shortfall; the revision preserves 21 fewer teaching positions than the earlier version.

The evidence

The Sept. 15 recap says Memo #037S, as amended, passed 5–2. The approved version allocates $3.7 million for high-dose reading tutoring, high-school credit recovery, school-based health centers at current operational levels through the second semester, and school personnel; it says $17,608,371 of HB 263 waterfall funds shall preserve approximately 123 FY28 teaching positions, reduced from 144 in the prior version.
