Anchorage district prepares a school-bond proposal of less than $60 million

Facilities

What happened

The administration is preparing a proposed April 2027 school bond of less than about $60 million, but the Board has not chosen projects or approved a package. Its $136.5 million list of possibilities includes major renovations at Bartlett High School and Romig Middle School and roof and structural work at Wendler Middle School.

Why it matters to families

If advanced and approved by voters, the bond could fund major facility, safety and learning-space work. The Board is scheduled to consider a package on Nov. 17, and the administration’s project list is not the final proposal.

The evidence

The Oct. 20 recap says the superintendent recommended a bond proposal of less than approximately $60 million for April 2027. Administrators presented $136.474 million in potential projects and said they would narrow the list; the Board would make the final decision. Listed estimates include $42.872 million for Bartlett High School Phase 1, $27.35 million for Romig Middle School Phase 1, and $9.26 million for Wendler Middle School roof and structural improvements. The recap says the proposed package was scheduled for Board consideration Nov. 17.
