District news
Anderson County restores part of Anderson 4’s FY27 operating millage

What happened
Anderson County restored 4.32 mills to Anderson 4’s 2026–27 operating millage after previously cutting it by 12.5 mills. The district said the county’s restoration brought the rate to 158.32 mills and helped balance its budget.
Why it matters to families
The county’s cut had left the district with an unbalanced revenue projection; the partial restoration changes the tax rate supporting district operations and addresses that budget gap.
The evidence
At its September 14 meeting, the board heard that Anderson County had reduced the district’s 2026–27 operating millage by 12.5 mills on July 20. The superintendent said the district requested reconsideration because the change would leave the budget unbalanced, and the county reinstated 4.32 mills, bringing the rate to 158.32 mills, to balance the budget.
