District news
Anderson 4 proposes paid parental leave policy revisions

What happened
The board will consider a first reading of revised paid parental leave rules. The draft provides eligible leave-earning employees six weeks at full base pay for birth parents and primary adoptive caregivers, and four weeks for other parents and foster placements, with no service requirement.
Why it matters to families
The proposal sets paid leave entitlements for eligible district employees and could affect staff planning around childbirth, adoption, and foster placement; it has not yet been approved.
The evidence
The Oct. 12 agenda lists Policy GCCAC/GDCC, Paid Parental Leave, for first reading. Its draft defines eligibility as employment in a position that earns annual leave, says there is no service requirement, and specifies six or four weeks at 100% of base pay depending on the qualifying event and caregiver status (document pp. 1, 12–14).
