District news
Antioch adds attendance recovery and academic help to expanded learning

What happened
The board approved revisions to the district’s expanded-learning plan, adding teacher-led attendance recovery and after-school academic support, as well as elementary sports camps and educational field trips. The district said expanded learning now operates at all elementary schools and in-person middle schools, including Black Diamond Middle School, and is funded by restricted funds.
Why it matters to families
Students can receive targeted instruction and attendance-recovery opportunities outside the regular school day, alongside expanded enrichment offerings. The district said the program uses restricted funding rather than the general fund.
The evidence
In its September 23, 2026 presentation, staff described six additions to the 2024-27 expanded-learning plan: a Black Diamond Middle School site, attendance-recovery instruction by certificated teachers, after-school academic interventions, elementary sports camps, facilities-support contributions, and field trips. The board approved the revised plan by motion. Staff said the program serves all elementary schools and middle schools with in-person regular-day classes and is fully funded by restricted expanded-learning funds. (Document 116306.)
