What happened

On October 13, 2026 the board heard how it could adopt a new state option that fully exempts the home of a veteran with a permanent, total service-connected disability from school tax. The board has not voted. A resolution would be needed before March 1, 2027.

Why it matters to families

The district must still raise the same tax levy, so other homeowners would pay a little more if exempt homes leave the tax base.

The evidence

In the recorded meeting the business office explained the new option, how it differs from the current exemption of up to $5,000, and the example of a tax shift to remaining taxpayers. No vote is recorded in this meeting.
