What happened

On Aug 3, 2026 the Board approved the 2026-27 school tax levy of about $70.2 million (7-1 vote). The average rate is $14.56 per $1,000 of value, down 3.19% from $15.04. The levy itself rose 3.46%, the tax cap limit, as part of a $152.8 million budget.

Why it matters to families

Tax bills depend on each home's value and town. Rates differ by town, and the district average rate is lower than last year.

The evidence

The Aug 3, 2026 tax calculation shows the levy, the new and old average rates, and the rate by town (Clay, Lysander, Van Buren). The Oct 5, 2026 board briefing says voters approved the $152.77 million budget (67%) with a 3.46% levy increase.
