Principal moves at three schools, and parents say the turnover is hurting
What happened
The School Committee approved a new Hampden Meadows School principal, Lisa Ridder, on June 11, 2026 as the current Hampden Meadows principal, Mr. Sangiuliano, moved to Primrose Hill School. Barrington High School's assistant principal retired after 14 years, and contracts for new assistant principals at the high school and Hampden Meadows were listed for the August 2026 meeting. A parent told the June meeting her children had had six different acting principals in four years.
Why it matters to families
The principal sets the rules and the feel of a school building. When the person in that chair keeps changing, so does everything that depends on them.
The evidence
The June 11, 2026 approved minutes record the chair saying Mr. Sangiuliano will be at Primrose Hill School, the superintendent recommending Ms. Lisa Ridder as principal at Hampden Meadows, and a 4-0 vote approving the Hampden Meadows principal contract. The same minutes record a resident stating her children have had six new faces as acting principals in four years and asking for a long-term plan on administrative turnover. The April 16, 2026 minutes list the retirement of Ed Daft, assistant principal at Barrington High School, after 14 years. The August 6, 2026 agenda lists assistant principal contracts for both schools for discussion and action.
