Board advances proposed Cherry Valley TK–8 campus; financing remains unresolved

What happened

Trustees approved environmental review and the proposed TK–8 project near Brookside Avenue and North Highland Springs Avenue. Additional site studies, escrow due diligence and construction funding still remained.

Approved minutes record adoption of Resolution 2026-27-05 for the initial study, mitigated negative declaration, mitigation program and project. In the recording, staff described further site reviews and said the proposed $86 million bond could not alone build an entire new school. Residents raised concerns about traffic, flooding and seismic conditions; these were concerns, not findings that the site was unsafe.
