Board puts a $125 million bond for a new high school on the November 3 ballot

What happened
On August 19, 2026 the board voted 5-0 to call a November 3 election on Ballot Issue 5A. The bond would pay for a new high school on the existing campus, turning the current high school into a middle school, and security, parking and traffic improvements. The same night the board approved a facilities master plan, a construction manager/general contractor, and surveys and traffic studies for the potential bond program.
Why it matters to families
It would be the district's first debt in more than 20 years: up to $125 million borrowed, repaid with up to $11 million a year in new property taxes. In April the superintendent said failing heating and cooling units had already used up the year's facilities budgets, and in May the superintendent reported that over 60% of polled residents saw school buildings as in poor condition.
The evidence
The August 19 minutes record the resolution calling the election passing 5-0 and the related master plan and construction votes. The dollar amounts are from the ballot title in Adams County's official election notice. The October 21 agenda listed a design proposal for the full 2026 bond program.
