What happened

The district’s 2025–26 audit identified a material weakness after about $7.8 million in fixed-asset additions were initially omitted from information provided to auditors. The district corrected the balance in its financial statements and says it will add a secondary review before year-end close.

Why it matters to families

The finding points to a significant gap in controls used to prepare the district’s financial reports, even though the reported asset balance was corrected. The audit gave the financial statements an unmodified opinion and reported no federal-program findings.

The evidence

The audit’s Finding 2026-001 classifies the year-end fixed-asset review issue as a material weakness and says approximately $7.8 million of additions were initially omitted from asset balances provided to the auditor. It states that management corrected the balance in the June 30, 2026 statements; the district attributed the review gap partly to turnover in the executive director of finance role and planned a secondary review of year-end balances and transactions. The audit summary reports an unmodified financial-statement opinion.
