District news
2026-27 budget spends $1 million more than it brings in

What happened
The approved 2026-27 general fund budget plans $25.0 million in spending and $24.0 million in revenue. The district will use savings (fund balance) to cover the $1.0 million gap.
Why it matters to families
The gap is about twice last year's planned $532,000. Savings pay for one-time projects: a $559,795 softball field, buses, the I.W. Evans roof and maintenance equipment. Using savings this way cannot repeat every year.
The evidence
The district's posted 2026-27 approved budget lists general fund revenue of $24,010,940, spending of $25,025,021, and a fund-balance list of projects. The 2025-26 approved budget shows a $532,192 gap.
