Board adopts 2026-27 budget with a $169,291 deficit

What happened
On August 25 the board adopted a 2026-27 budget that spends $169,291 more than it brings in. The first draft had a deficit of about $214,000. The total tax rate was set at $1.2204 per $100 of property value ($0.7954 for operations, $0.425 for bond debt), up from $1.1917 last year.
Why it matters to families
A deficit budget draws on savings, which the district estimated at about $3.2 million. In July the superintendent also talked about a policy letting the district take short-term bank loans to cover cash flow.
