Students must lock phones in pouches all school day
What happened
Starting in the 2026-27 school year, students must keep phones, smartwatches and listening devices in a locked Yondr pouch during the school day. They can use them at lunch and after school.
Why it matters to families
This changes every school day for students and how families reach them. Pouches are handed out at the start of the year. The report quotes the high school principal and does not list which schools use the pouches, so the junior and senior high schools are possibly affected.
The evidence
The Villagers Voice (July 21, 2026) quotes Principal Bart King: 'all students must secure their mobile phones, smartwatches, and listening devices inside a locked Yondr pouch.'
