Board adopts the 2026-27 budget and gives every employee group a raise

What happened

On June 18, 2026 the board voted 5-0 to adopt the 2026-27 budget for all funds and, in a separate 5-0 vote, to raise the salary schedules for every employee group from July 1, 2026: the Associated Chino Teachers, the California School Employees Association Chino Chapter 102, certificated and classified management, classified confidential staff, executive cabinet and the superintendent. The board had ratified reopener agreements with both unions on April 16, 2026 and approved a contract addendum for the superintendent on May 21, 2026. The same June meeting adopted the 2026-27 Local Control and Accountability Plan, the state-required plan setting out how the district will spend its extra funding for high-need students. Earlier in the year the board approved both the First Interim report on December 18, 2025 and the Second Interim report on April 16, 2026 with a positive certification, meaning the district certified it can meet its obligations this year and for the two following years.

Why it matters to families

Staff pay is the single largest thing a school district buys, so a raise for every group is the decision that most shapes what is left for everything else. The positive certification on both interim reports is the county's shorthand for a district that is not in financial trouble - useful reassurance in a period when many California districts are cutting. The LCAP is where families can see what the district promises to do with its supplemental funding.
