In October 2025, Codman leaders publicly acknowledged that the school's performance was not where it needed to be. After reviewing MCAS and accountability results, they described achievement as below expectations and called for a hard academic and culture reset built around common planning time, district assessments, tiered supports, instructional leadership review, and tighter use of high-quality materials.

That same month, a separate review turned up gaps in employee onboarding records. School leaders said they expected the audit finding because staff turnover had left required human-resources paperwork incomplete, and they pointed to steps already taken in response, including hiring an HR manager and updating their onboarding systems.

The stakes became clearer in March 2026, when the state signaled its intent to renew Codman's charter with conditions. The state review praised the school's governance but again flagged academic performance and classroom consistency as continuing concerns, meaning the school remained under close watch even as its charter was set to continue.
