What happened

The spring 2026 state test report showed 57% of 8th graders at Level 1, the lowest level, in math, and 71% at Level 1 in science. In 3rd grade reading, 37% were at Level 1. The report also says the school expects 'another year of significant turnover' in staff in 2026-27.

Why it matters to families

Low scores plus teacher turnover can make it harder for students to catch up. The school's curriculum director position was also ended.

The evidence

The June 2026 curriculum, instruction and assessment report to the board lists grade 8 math at 57% Level 1 with a 54-point drop in average score, and predicts significant turnover in 2026-27.
