What happened

Croydon Village School reopened September 1 after a summer renovation: new roof, repointed brick, restored belfry and portico, new floors, ADA upgrades, a new life-safety system, air conditioning and new paving. It was paid for with the bond voters approved in 2025, offset by a $128,000 state LCHIP grant.

Why it matters to families

The work keeps the historic one-room schoolhouse, listed on the NH State Register of Historic Places, in use. The board borrowed $250,000 through a 10-year Mascoma Bank note instead of the full $353,000 authorized.

The evidence

October 26, 2026 district post lists the renovations and funding. April 21, 2026 minutes record the $250,000 10-year bank note.
