What happened

Croydon's November 3, 2026 ballot asks whether to cap growth in local school property taxes for two years at inflation plus new construction and limit SAU office spending to 6% of the budget. It needs 60% to pass. The board first voted to mail residents a flyer opposing it, then on October 20 chose to post only basic facts.

Why it matters to families

A cap would limit how much the school budget can grow even if enrollment or special education costs jump, unless 60% of the district meeting votes to override it.

The evidence

October 26, 2026 district post gives the ballot wording and rules. September 15 minutes record the vote to send a mailer opposing HB 1300; October 20 draft minutes record the switch to factual information.
