What happened

The state education department audited Croydon's special education files in spring 2026 because the district is in Tier 3. At its July retreat the board noted Croydon is rated "Needs Assistance" on the state's key indicators.

Why it matters to families

A "Needs Assistance" rating means the state found gaps the district must fix. It matters more now that the district's special education lead resigned and the work moved to a part-time contractor.

The evidence

January 20 and February 17, 2026 minutes describe the PAGS audit (Tier 3, done by June 5). July 8, 2026 retreat minutes: "DOE Key indicators - Over 20 indicators that need to be met. Croydon is currently in Needs Assistance."
