What happened

On August 27, 2026 the board unanimously approved its 2026-2032 capital improvement plan so the district can apply for state grants. The superintendent said a generator project at Anderson and Cantwell schools would be funded for next summer if oil prices hold, with word expected around December 30. The borough mayor later said $1.4 million sits in the borough's school major maintenance reserve and estimated $560,000 for paving circle drives and parking lots.

Why it matters to families

Repairs at the borough's remote schools depend on state grants that may or may not come through.

The evidence

August 27, 2026 special meeting recording: motion to approve the 2026-2032 six-year capital improvement plan passed unanimously. August 2026 regular meeting recording: third project (generator at Anderson and Cantwell) funded if oil prices stay where they are. October 2026 recording: borough has $1.4 million in its school capital major maintenance reserve; $560,000 estimate for two circle drives and parking lots.
