District news
State oversight as elementary works to raise scores
What happened
Detroit Elementary is under a state turnaround plan after low ratings, and the district has a Texas Education Agency conservator. The district's 2026 rating was a C (76).
Why it matters to families
A conservator can oversee decisions. If scores do not improve, the state can take stronger steps. The district hired a consultant, a math interventionist and an instructional coach to help.
