District news
Board puts a $54 million tax increase (mill levy override) on the Nov. 3 ballot

What happened
On Aug. 25, 2026 the board took up a resolution asking voters to raise district taxes by $54 million a year, starting in 2027, to pay for operating costs.
Why it matters to families
The money would fund a 4% raise for teachers and staff ($21.4M), charter schools ($13M), special-needs programs ($5.1M), career classes ($4.2M), and more. If voters say no, the board has said the raises depend on the vote.
The evidence
The MLO plan lists a $54,000,000 total. The election resolution asks voters to approve a $54 million tax increase at the Nov. 3, 2026 coordinated election. A separate resolution ties 4% pay raises to the measure passing.
