Seismic upgrade of elementary and preschool wing underway
What happened
Using a state seismic rehabilitation grant, Dufur is reinforcing the elementary and preschool wing of the K-12 school. On June 2, 2026 the board picked Griffin Construction as construction manager/general contractor for phase 2, and investigation work in classrooms began in October.
Why it matters to families
Work will happen inside classrooms that elementary and preschool students use, and crews will cut small holes in ceilings and floors for testing. The project is meant to make the building safer in an earthquake and may improve heating efficiency.
