What happened

The board awarded the gym air-conditioning project to Olson Contractors for $249,713 (the other bid was $340,000) and bought a 2027 77-passenger diesel bus with air conditioning for $168,331 through a purchasing cooperative. Earlier in the year it bought a $104,166 14-passenger bus.

Why it matters to families

These are large capital purchases on top of the bus garage and the staff-housing foundations ($119,732).
