Enrolment falls again, by 86 students in a year

What happened

The superintendent reported district enrolment of 2,642 at the start of the 2026-27 year, down from 2,728 a year earlier and 2,710 on October 1, 2025.

Why it matters to families

Fewer students means less money under the state funding formula and fewer teaching posts. The superintendent's FY27 budget letter says some of the 24 staff the district lost going into 2025-26 went because enrolment fell, not only because of town funding limits, so this trend directly shapes how many adults are in Duxbury's schools.
