Bond work: entry vestibules and playgrounds due by Halloween, athletic fields next

What happened

The superintendent said phase one of the bond (security vestibules, playgrounds and stronger door hardware) should be mostly done around Oct. 30 to 31, 2026, with some work spilling into November. Phase two, the athletic work (fields, lights, bleachers, restrooms and snack stands), could start around mid-October, still waiting for state education department approval. The district is also seeking community members for a bond oversight committee.

Why it matters to families

Families will see construction at schools this fall, and the athletic fields may be closed or changed while work is done. The oversight committee gives residents a way to watch how the $71.5 million is spent.

In the Sept. 16 recording, the superintendent described phase one and phase two timing and said the oversight committee application page would close in October. The district's bond progress report shows each building's project status and estimated construction starts in 2026 and 2027.
