2026-27 budget adopted with about $2.5 million in staff pay cuts

What happened
At the June 23, 2026 meeting the board approved the 2026-27 budget. It appropriates $34,439,003 across all funds, including $22,079,653 for the general fund, and projects a general fund balance of $755,519. Staff said they cut $2,517,127 in salary and benefits, partly by not refilling top administrative jobs, and reduced some teaching positions. A June 29 meeting then approved reduction-in-force transfers for five teachers.
Why it matters to families
Smaller staffing budgets can change class sizes and who teaches which school. The thin fund balance leaves little room if state money or enrollment falls short.
The evidence
The appropriation schedule and fund balance are in the budget memo; the $2,517,127 figure is from staff remarks in the June 23 recording; the June 29 minutes list the staff changes.
