What happened

The district owed a $644,227 IRS arbitrage fee on its 2022 bonds because it earned more interest on the money than the bonds cost. Only $967,495 of bond money was left. The rest of the bond projects are done.

Why it matters to families

About two-thirds of the leftover construction money went to the IRS instead of school projects.
