Everett Public Schools — Day-to-day

Everett Public Schools' day-to-day policy decisions over the past year have centered on adjusting school rules and operations. The earliest change came in September 2025, when Everett High began locking most restrooms during the first and last 10 minutes of each class to limit access around class changes, while keeping first-floor and nurse's-office restrooms open and maintaining at least one open restroom per floor at lunch.

The district then turned to program access, approving in February 2026 a program-specific randomized lottery for oversubscribed Chapter 74 career and technical education programs at Everett High. Under the new approach, only attendance, discipline, and a non-evaluative interest indicator are permitted as additional lottery weights, keeping the selection process largely random.

Most recently, in May 2026, the committee began reviewing how district policy should treat AI-generated images. That review referred the topic, along with the application of existing bullying, harassment, and digital-conduct rules, to the superintendent pending state guidance, leaving room for future policy adjustments once that guidance arrives.
