Board begins talking about a property tax exemption for 100% disabled veterans

Financial

What happened

On Sept 15, 2026 the board began a preliminary discussion of a new state option. The business office estimates it would raise other taxpayers' bills by about $80 to $120 a year on a $400,000 home. A vote would be needed by December for a March 1, 2027 deadline.

Why it matters to families

It would lower taxes for qualifying veterans and shift a small cost to everyone else.

The evidence

The board's September 15, 2026 Board Brief on the district site summarizes the discussion, the estimate, and plans to talk with the Town and Village of Fairport. No decision has been made.
