District news
District cut about $1.6 million after losing students and expects further loss

What happened
At the April 20, 2026 meeting the superintendent said falling enrollment has led to cuts of about $1.6 million, aimed at covering a projected $1.4 million general fund shortfall. He projected about 55 fewer students next year, worth roughly $500,000.
Why it matters to families
Fewer students means less state money. The district is cutting positions and spending while also paying for a school entry project.
The evidence
The superintendent's report on the recording gives these figures and says they are approximate ("a moving target"). The January 26 recording shows the board adopting the 2025-26 budget with the $1.4 million general fund deficit.
