District eliminates hundreds of central-office jobs to save money

What happened

As part of the 2026-27 budget, Fort Worth ISD's new leadership eliminated about 349 central-office and administrative positions, cutting the superintendent's direct reports from 15 to 8. The district says the changes save roughly $28.5 million a year.

Why it matters to families

This is one of the largest administrative restructurings the district has made public. These are central-office jobs, not classroom teachers, but the scale shows how much financial pressure the district is under.

The July 21, 2026 organizational chart review lists eliminated and realigned positions by division: 260 eliminated under Curriculum & Instruction ($23.4 million saved), 64 under Operations ($3,276,830 saved), 5 under Talent Management ($321,447 saved), 16 under the CFO ($1.2 million saved), and 1 under the Internal Auditor ($86,175 saved).
