District news
District develops AI guardrails while access remains open
What happened
Franklin is developing district AI guidance around human oversight, AI literacy, accountability, and data privacy; officials said internet access to AI tools remained open and no grade-level rule had yet been set.
Why it matters to families
The eventual guidance will shape when students may use AI, how they disclose its use, and what information they may enter. Families and staff are still being asked to help define those rules.
The evidence
The June 9 approved minutes record the committee update, stakeholder surveys, planned 2026-27 guidance work, open AI access, and discussion that grade-level guardrails were still being developed.
