Board moves ahead with middle-school expansion for grade reconfiguration

What happened

The board voted to proceed with an addition at Kenneth Henderson Middle School as part of planning to change the district from K-6 and 7-8 grades to K-5 and 6-8 grades.

Why it matters to families

The plan could change grade assignments and require building work for students and families across the district, especially at Kenneth Henderson and the intermediate schools.

The evidence

October 13 minutes record a 6-0 vote to proceed with the Kenneth Henderson addition. A later facilities presentation says the reconfiguration would move sixth grade into the middle-school grade span and identifies a remodel and addition at Kenneth Henderson, along with changes at other schools.
