Voters approve a $30 million capital reserve fund for building repairs
What happened
On May 19, 2026 voters passed Proposition 2, a Capital Reserve Fund of up to $30 million over five years for roofs, heating and cooling, safety and technology, and athletic fields. It starts with $19.6 million moved from the 2019 fund. On June 17 the board authorized up to $11 million more from 2025-26 funds. In May the board also awarded 2024 bond HVAC contracts worth several million dollars.
Why it matters to families
This sets aside money for school building repairs without a new bond, but the money comes from district savings that could otherwise lower taxes or fund programs.
