Graduation rate rose to 89.7%, but most dropouts were English learners
What happened
The Class of 2026 graduation rate was 89.7%, up from 84.9% for 2025 and below the 91.4% peak for 2024. English learners were 24 of the 30 dropouts. Their graduation rate rose to 47.2%.
Why it matters to families
Students who recently arrived and are learning English have the hardest time passing the English Regents exam. Special education graduation fell slightly to 78.7%.
