Holliston Public Schools — Curriculum

Holliston Public Schools has spent the past several months refining its core academic programs for the 2026-27 school year, with changes taking shape across math, science, and literacy. The first major step came in December 2025, when the district approved differentiated mathematics pathways starting in grade 7, giving students the option to complete Algebra I in grade 8 and a more individualized progression through the middle school math sequence.

In March 2026, the district adjusted its approach to honors science after families and committee members raised questions about an embedded honors model. The district responded by expanding honors eligibility from 14 to 23 students and restoring a separate grade-8 honors science section for 2026-27, while also developing an additional readiness pathway to support more students in the future.

Most recently, in May 2026, the district capped its curriculum work with a K-5 literacy decision. Following a curriculum review, the committee unanimously selected Amplify CKLA and approved a three-year contract totaling $358,359.54 for kindergarten through grade 5. Taken together, the changes signal a pattern of deliberate, community-responsive updates aimed at strengthening math, science, and reading across the district.
