Hopkinton Public Schools — Facilities

Over the past year, the Hopkinton School Committee has steadily advanced a broad slate of facility projects touching building systems, playgrounds, and classroom space. In November 2025, the committee unanimously authorized up to $900,000 from existing districtwide HVAC article funding to design and engineer a geothermal water-to-water heat-pump project for the high school — an early step toward overhauling the building's heating and cooling approach.

In January 2026, the committee awarded a $599,700 contract to ProBuilt Designs for the district's adaptive playground, with construction planned for summer 2026 and completion before school starts. Three months later, in April, the committee revised the Hopkins campus Loop Road work to $1,564,149 — including a $130,000 allowance for unforeseen conditions — and authorized $283,188.61 for additional Hopkins furniture, paid for from project savings and contingency.

Most recently, the committee's July agenda proposed spending $136,953.51 to study relocating Elmwood's two-story modular classrooms to Hopkins and to develop a Fall Town Meeting funding request using uncommitted Charleswood funds. Taken together, the projects show the district working across its buildings on accessibility, energy efficiency, and space planning, with several efforts timed to wrap up around the start of the next school year.
