Board agenda proposes $60 million in school-building bonds

What happened
The September 8 agenda proposes issuing $60 million in new school-building bonds. The new borrowing was authorized by voters in the April 2026 election; the resolution also allows refinancing certain 2016 bonds only if it would generate interest savings.
Why it matters to families
If approved, the proposal would convert voter authorization into substantial new district borrowing for school-building purposes. Any refinancing is conditional on savings to the District.
The evidence
Agenda item E.3, “Resolution Approving Series 2026A GO School Building and Refunding Bonds,” says the resolution proposes issuance of $60 million in new-money bonds authorized at the April 2026 election and refunding certain Series 2016 and/or 2016B bonds assuming the District realizes interest-rate savings. This is an agenda proposal, not evidence of approval.
