District news
Approved budget carries recurring-deficit warning

What happened
The county approved Jurupa’s budget while projecting unrestricted deficits of $6.7 million, $8.5 million and $18.3 million over three years.
Why it matters to families
The district needs recurring spending offsets as enrollment and attendance funding decline. Positive cash and reserve compliance provide time; they do not eliminate the structural gap.
The evidence
The county’s August 28 letter approves the budget and LCAP with positive fund balances, adequate projected cash and minimum reserves, while identifying all three unrestricted deficits. The 3% reserve requirement is a floor, not the actual total fund balance.
