La Entrada considers a major field and play-area expansion

What happened
LLESD is developing a plan to expand La Entrada’s undersized field and surrounding play space as a safer, year-round recreation area. The district is preparing an application for up to $8.5 million in state climate funding, but the grant is not guaranteed and the board had not yet selected a design in this newsletter.
Why it matters to families
The proposal could substantially increase recreation space for students and the community and add stormwater capture beneath the field; it remains dependent on later design direction and competitive grant funding.
The evidence
The September 2026 superintendent newsletter says the district and partners were finalizing conceptual designs and preparing an application for the maximum $8.5 million Proposition 4 award. The district said the full vision would likely take multiple phases and years, and that it would also contribute funds set aside for removing and abating the portable classrooms. The newsletter said the Board would review three designs in September and was expected to give direction in October; it does not report a selected design or grant award.
