What happened

According to FOX 4 News, Leonard police arrested Leonard High School principal Jansen Trotter on October 27, 2026. He is charged with failing to report employee misconduct. FOX 4 says Leonard ISD put him on administrative leave after the arrest.

Why it matters to families

School leaders must report claims that a staff member mistreated students. FOX 4 reports that police say a student told the principal about misconduct claims against a Leonard High School teacher involving several female students, and the claims were not reported. Police say their investigation is still going on.

The evidence

FOX 4 News (KDFW) reported on October 27, 2026 that Leonard police charged Trotter with failure to report employee misconduct, that his bond was set at $5,000, and that the district placed him on leave. FOX 4 says police found a recording of the student's report during an investigation into the student's death earlier in October. Police told FOX 4 they have no evidence the death was caused by the failure to report. The teacher accused of misconduct has not been named. This is news reporting, not a district or court record, and the charge is an accusation, not a conviction.
