Board approves limited online instruction days and restricts online platforms from replacing in-person teaching

What happened
The board approved amendments allowing the school calendar to include up to five days or 30 hours of instruction delivered primarily over the internet. It also specified that online platforms should supplement, not replace, in-person instruction; no online days were scheduled in these minutes.
Why it matters to families
The change creates districtwide flexibility to deliver a limited amount of instruction online while setting a policy boundary that online platforms are supplemental. Families should not interpret the approval as an announcement of specific remote-learning dates.
The evidence
Approved amended Policy 601.01 to state: “Each year the minimum school calendar may include up to 5 days or 30 hours of instruction delivered primarily over the internet.” Approved an amendment to Policy 604.11 stating: “Online platforms are to augment in person instruction platform and not replace it.” Both amendments passed unanimously.
