What happened

At a July 27, 2026 special meeting the board reviewed an updated cell phone policy for the new school year.

Why it matters to families

It changes the school day for families. Phones are to be away all day from the first bell to the last bell, including passing periods and lunch, through eighth grade. Schools plan lock-up or storage systems so teachers do not have to police phones.

The evidence

In the captions, staff say the policy is more explicit that phones are away "all day", bell to bell through the end of eighth grade, and the guidelines set storage practices. A board member asks whether the policy wording should match a lock-up rule. A later September meeting thanks staff for fast rollout of the new phone policy.
