Medford Public Schools — Facilities

Facilities work in Medford Public Schools has centered on the future of the district's school buildings, from long-term planning through major capital projects. The conversation began in late 2025 with a proposal to restructure grade configurations across the district — moving elementary schools to a PK-4 model, McGlynn Middle to grades 5-6, and Andrews Middle to grades 7-8. The committee tabled that proposal so a transition task force can first validate its feasibility and gather public input before moving forward.

Meanwhile, the district has advanced specific facilities improvements. In December 2025, the committee unanimously approved the solar project at the McGlynn schools, also asking that it be expanded if feasible to the Missituk, Roberts, and Brooks elementary schools. In June 2026, the HVAC project for Roberts Elementary School came forward for update and approval.

Most significantly, the building committee selected design C2.2A as the singular preferred schematic for the new high school and submitted it to the MSBA on June 25, 2026. Around the same time, a teen health center was put forward as a possible component of the future high school, with the districts agenda scheduling discussion of its benefits, operating plans, costs, partnerships, and space guidance for the building committee.
