What happened

In July 2026 the board voted to raise its property tax authority by the extra 7% that state law allows for the 2026-27 budget. On September 14, 2026 it adopted the 2026-27 budget and set the property tax levy at $1.027074 per $100 of value.

Why it matters to families

Using the extra authority lets the district collect more in property taxes than the normal limit, which affects local taxpayers and how much the district can spend. The board discussed the budget outlook at almost every meeting this year.

The evidence

July 13, 2026 minutes: 'Motion by Evans, second by Stout to increase the property tax authority by the allowable 7% for the 2026-2027 budget year. Motion carried 6-0.'
